Wondering how to plan a yacht party in Cartagena? Well, let us help you plan the perfect event for your bachelor party or weekend getaway!
If you’ve somehow stumbled upon this article, you’re likely in charge of logistics for a Cartagena bachelor party.
If this is the case, the helm of your to-do list will be to set up a yacht party in Cartagena.
This is easier said than done when you don’t know the language or the lay of the land. But in this article, we’re going to have you come out looking like the ultimate party planner.
Before we dive in, we have a Cartagena bachelor party compendium we’d like for you to check out.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here is How to Plan a Yacht Party in Cartagena (in 5 simple steps).
Choose the dates and the number of guests for your yacht party
Cartagena has been a bachelor party destination for a little over 5 years now. This means it hasn’t yet blown up as a place that everyone knows about. This also means that you won’t find as much variety as far as options and pricing.
If you don’t book at least 2 months in advance, it will be very difficult to get the type of boat (at the right price) that you’re looking for.
This is why we recommend you assemble your group and pick your dates at least 3 months in advance. We say 3 but if you’re looking to come down in December, January, or during Easter, we recommend 5-6 months.
Consider the types of activities and goals for the day
Not as intricate as it sounds we just want to get an idea of what you want to do.
Many of our groups are bachelor parties that want to go island hopping on a yacht with a bunch of hostesses. We then have other groups that want to chill on a boat taking in the sights and getting drunk.
There is no right or wrong answer here. Both options are easily done and both options are a guaranteed blast. But Cartagena has a handful of small surrounding islands. Baru, Cholon, and Rosario, among others.
These islands can all be seen in one day if the group is up and out by 8 am. But, if you plan on hitting up one, maybe two islands and chilling, you won’t need a speed demon Azimut.
Budget and Size of Ship
To piggyback off the last sentence, not every yacht party in Cartagena is the same as the last. On the contrary, budgets and types of ships play a huge role in your experience.
In Cartagena (though in somewhat limited supply) we have yachts, speedboats, and catamarans.
Our yachts can fit anywhere between 12-30 people. They have 1-2 bedrooms and are known for their luxury and speed.
Speedboats are much smaller yachts. They’re known, of course, for their velocity and low costs.
Catamarans can be much bigger. If you’re looking to cruise, not looking to speed, and want to be comfortable with a big group, catamarans are perfect. They’re also more affordable than yachts making them a fan favorite for bigger groups.
Add ons and Upgrades
We offer all 3 options for different budgets. Keep in mind that each type of ship has its own set of rules and max # of guests.
We have speedboats that have the capacity for up to 20 guests but these are pimped-out speedboats that cost as much as small yachts.
Catamarans can fit up to 35 guests and our biggest yacht can fit 30.
We say all this because although we rarely have groups of 20+ guests, you might want to add on a few things (or people).
For starters DJs, chefs, security, concierge services and entertainment need to be kept in mind when figuring out a final number.
Tips for Planning a Fun Yacht Party
- Set a theme. Yes, you may be having a bachelor or bachelorette party in Cartagena, Colombia, but it’s better to select a theme to make the party even more fun. You can go glamorous 20s with a Gatsby-inspired party or opt for a more relaxed boho theme.
- Check out available activities. When you know what you and your friends are in for, you’ll come better prepared. Who knows? There may be activities that fit your theme, like watersports, sightseeing or a stay in a luxury vacation rental when you dock in Cartagena.
- Don’t forget to plan for the things you need aboard. Apart from theme-appropriate clothing, you may also have to bring food and beverages to your yacht party, especially if they’re not a part of your yacht rental package in Cartagena.
- Polish your guestlist. If it’s an intimate party, you may want to keep only your nearest and dearest with you. But if you want to celebrate with a bigger crowd and meet friends of friends, you may allow your guests to bring a plus-one.
