Both cities have average weather above 70 but Medellín’s weather can’t be beaten. At 90 degrees, Cartagena sounds like paradise. But after you discover you can wear shorts all day in Medellin and never feel the need for AC, you’ll think twice.

If you want to allocate 8 hours a day to something other than partying, you’ll be interested in exploring the city. Visit the various islands surrounding Cartagena, various museums and if you’re in the city center, the town is spectacular.
Great boutique coffee shops, beautiful churches, and nice people. Just be careful with the annoying street vendors, they tend to linger. Learn the currency.
